The Afton Planning Commission has struggled with its members’ attendance in the past.
It has struggled so much that seveal meetings have had to be canceled because the Planning Commission didn’t have enough members to form a quorum.
Now, the Planning Commission is working hard to remedy that.
Recently, Planning Commission chair Barb Ronningen found in the ordinance that creates the planning commission that a member can be removed from their position if their absences becomes too much of a problem
According to the ordinance: “A persons membership can be terminated for cause on three abssences or more or one unexcused absence in a calendar year.”
Ronningen informer commissioners that it is their responsibility to keep the first Monday of the month open.
“It’s very important that you need to be here every time,” she said. “It’s our prerogative
to ask someone to resign if they are no participating – we want people that are dedicated.”

Barb’s a ballbuster, that’s for sure. Don’t get on her bad side. She has a death stare that could make a man turn and look away.
