Woodbury

New population estimates are out and Woodbury nearly missed the 60,000 mark.

The Metropolitan Council recently released population estimates, putting Woodbury’s at 59,338. The Met Council gave the city the data last week, but it actually reflects a population estimate as of April 1, 2009.

The figures are updated annually and used by state government to allocate local government aid, for which affluent suburb Woodbury doesn’t qualify, and for local street funding, which Woodbury does receive.

Here are some other Woodbury population and housing figures from the recent Met Council report:

– Households: 22,310

– People per household: 2.6

– Single-family homes: 13,249

– Townhomes: 6,065

– Multifamily: 3,314

– Duplex/threeplex/fourplex: 521
