Two Woodbury residents who co-hosted a Twin Cities-based talk radio show are apparently out of a job after the station, AM 1500 KSTP, announced Thursday it will undergo a format change.
Shawn Prebil and Chris Murphy each moved to Woodbury shortly after they were hired last April to host the “Prebil and Murphy” show at KSTP weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The pair previously worked at an AM talk radio station in Madison, Wis., where Prebil was a host and Murphy was the station manager.
Last August the duo served as celebrity grand marshals in the Woodbury Days parade.
Several local media outlets reported on the announcement yesterday that the station was moving from a mostly local talk format to an all sports-talk format. KSTP execs issued a press release on the station’s Web site as well.
During an interview with the Bulletin in August, Prebil said he and his girlfriend enjoyed getting acquainted with the city of Woodbury and its plethora of walking trails, along with the short commute between his new home and the KSTP station in St. Paul.
“That was a big selling point for us, having those park and trail connections right alongside our property line,” Prebil said. “We could get on a path and just go.”
Murphy also made the move to Woodbury with his family a few weeks after being lured out of Madison to the popular Twin Cities AM radio talk station.
Would love to know what Prebil and Murphy are up to now–will they be back on the air anytime soon? Miss them tremendously.
