Big night on tap at NLA

Sports

A celebratory evening is in store for New Life Academy girls basketball players and their fans on Friday night as two Lady Eagles team members are set to hit a pair of career milestones when Meadow Creek Christian comes to town.

Junior forward Cara Lutes is just 12 points away from breaking former teammate Jenny Ramey’s team scoring record of 1,518 points, set just last March after Ramey played her last high school game in the 2009 Class A State Tournament. Lutes has been averaging far over 12 points per game this season.

Lutes’ teammate, senior wing Rebekah Schmidt will crack the 1,000-point plateau with her first basket tomorrow night as the co-captain enters the contest with 999 points in her time as an Eagles’ player.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the Curt Wetsel Court.

  1. I believe Rebekah Schmitt to be a junior, not a senior. In fact, I KNOW this. She was in my sixth grade class at NLA! Love this quiet, unassuming, and VERY hard working gal!! :^)
